frustration.

I'm extremely frustrated right now because I have the worst case of writer's block I have ever had. I guess that's what I get for trying to write two completely different stories at one time. Well, that and I think they're good stories but I won't do them justice because my writing ability sucks. This is the reason I've been trying to fish the same book for 5 years, I never think what I do is good enough. To be honest, I'll probably never finish either, which is depressing. The only reason why even I've even let it be known that I'm attempting such a feat is I thought it would light a fire under me to actually just sit down and write instead of deleting everything and starting over all the time. Now I'm rambling in great big long sentences because I'm getting more and more frustrated the more I think about it. Ugh. I hope I finish what I've started, but I really need to stop second guessing myself. In the meantime, don't hold your breathe waiting for my books to come out, it might be awhile, if ever.

jack the ripper.

I watched some of the documentary on serial killers I bought earlier this week. The first one covered was Jack the Ripper. Although, of course, he is not the first serial killer, he is the first one to gain fame and he also sparked giving the killers names. i.e. BTK, The Boston Strangler, etc.

the road not taken.

The Road Not Taken
by: Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

inventing villains.

Yesterday as I was writing some more on my book, or what I hope to eventually be my book if I ever actually finish it, I got a little sidetracked and started to write on something else. Something in what I was writing sparked another idea and before I knew it had caught in the figurative wind and had started to spread. The idea is a dark one, and is requiring me to come up with a sinister villain. I've found that's easier said than done. There have been so many great villains already thought up that it's difficult to make a new one without feeling like you're poaching someone else's creativity. I've got a few good ideas and hopefully one of them ends up being right for the story. I've decided it can't just be a run of the mill serial killer, I have something else in mind. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Anyway, it's almost 6 A.M and I really need to try to sleep. Good Night/Morning.
